Accounts Receivable Accountant

Position

A key aspect to driving forecasted revenue is the ability to efficiently and accurately track and receive payment from our customers in a timely manner. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant oversees incoming payments, ensuring receivables are collected on time and revenue is posted accurately. The AR Accountant utilizes strong processes to ensure accuracy and a thorough approach to the Receivables function. This key position will monitor all aspects of the order process, from evaluating customer credit terms and limits to application of the customer payments in order to achieve revenue forecasted. Success in this position will be managed by metrics tracking revenue forecasted versus revenue posted. Working cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and customers, the AR Accountant requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, time management, problem solving and the ability to utilize process to achieve an accurate, thorough and efficient result.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all HandyTube employees.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to optimize AR management.
  • Track forecasted sales in an effort to anticipate receivables.
  • Work with team to evaluate potential customer credit needs.
  • Recommend credit to management based on references, credit reporting and payment histories.
  • Ensure existing customer accounts comply with credit policies.
  • Review new sales orders to ensure compliance with credit and SOX policies.
  • Resolve account discrepancies and apply lean tools to avoid future occurrences.
  • Distribute invoices to customers accurately and timely.
  • Aggressively manage customer past-due balances.
  • Process and post customer payments timely and accurately.
  • Completely regular account reconciliations.
  • Report regularly to Sales and Customer Service on payment status.
  • Prepare monthly AR Reserve Analysis and Reconciliation.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree (Accounting or Finance required). 
  • At least 2 years’ related experience (AR preferred).
  • Experience processing receivables for durable goods manufacturer preferred.
  • Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Demonstrated success utilizing continuous improvement tools to improve Accounting processes.
  • Ability to utilize ERP system to analyze and research customer account activity.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to correspondence verbally and in writing in a manner which results in mutual understanding.
  • Self-directed with attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional business partners.
